Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath was an American poet, novelist, and short story writer during the mid-1900's. She studied at Smith, Newnham, and Cambridge College before becoming a professional poet and writer. She married Ted Hughes in 1956, and gave birth to two children, Frieda and Nicholas. The couple separated shortly before Plath's death due to Hughes' infidelity. Plath struggled with depression and tried to commit suicide multiple times. Most of her important poems were written in the last year of her life. On February 11, 1963, Sylvia Plath killed herself, leaving behind her two young children.
